I can believe it blew. Here is the formula:

((4psi / 14.7) + 1) * 10.5 = 13.357:1 boosted compression ratio

You need at least an octane booster, plus some retarding to start with even before the know sensor kicks in, plus a little richness in the fuel metering. If you didn't retune your ecm before you made the run, you would probably get knock.

I definately was not knocking. My A/F ratio was perfect (a little on the rich side as it did dip into the high 10's:1 - but i'm happy for that) Most of the time it hovered around 11.5:0

As for octane booster, that stuff is useless, 1 point for octane booster is .1 in real terms.

I blame this solely on toyotas poor design of the knock sensors. They commonly blow from noise of the SC, thats why bank 2 blows if you aren't running lean

Unless you are good with a toolbox I'd get a mechanic to do it. The SC will hae to be removed of course.

You have to remove the supercharger and lower intake. It is doable. I did mine ...

I'm very confused. This article on SportCompact Car (http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/featu ... index.html) says that a stock V6 Solara with a S/C does "243 hp with 228 lb-ft of torque at the wheels using our in-house Dynojet dynamometer." So, why do I read about everyone saying that around 200hp at the wheels is accurate for a S/C Solara??? If someone could please help me, it would be much appreciated. I plan on buying a Gen 1.5 in the next couple months. (Wish I could get a Gen 2 but too much $$$)

Thanks.

The car is a 5spd. Thats why it puts out more power to the wheels then an automatic.

plus numbers do vary by dyno.

243 seems a little high. Its more like 225FWHP for a 5spd with just a s/c

Mandarinsolara, read the quote that I took directly from the article:

"243 hp with 228 lb-ft of torque at the wheels using our in-house Dynojet dynamometer."

exactly how it says, at the wheels. TRD said the supercharger should give an extra 70 horsepower at the wheels, whether it is automatic or manual. If you look at stock automatic figures, we put down about 135, so 200-205 is accurate, and since the manual is at about 170 at the wheels, 243 is accurate also.
