Stock Pulley...

Postby Dawgz » Sat Jul 07, 2007 6:12 pm

Greg was very kind to send me this new pulley quickly and for a great price, Big thanx to Greg for it.

Here are pics of the new pulley (on left) and the one on the s\c currently. U can see the diffrence in size. The one on the left is the stock 4psi pulley from the "new batch" of s\c with the new idler plate compared to the old version which is putting out 2.5 - 3 psi.

I will have it installed this comming week hopefully and take it to the dyno shop as soon as i can find time to do so.

here are the pics...

I didn't think you'd be able to see much of a difference at first, but you obviously can. there was a big difference in size between the stock and the 6lbs.

yea well the 6psi pulley is 2.8" correct?

but now we all know that there were TWO versions of the "stock" pulley, the older version being much bigger than the later version, which hopefully put out 4psi and not the 2.5~3psi that im putting out.

FYI -

NEW TRD SUPERCHARGERS

http://www.toysport.com/New%20Products/ ... argers.htm

Keep in mind that boost is NOT just a factor of the pulley size. Air temp, air density, altitude and other factors all play a role.

Taking real accurate measurements with precision tools.

Took the measurements of the new pulley, and will post the measurement of the Old one when i get it off the s\c.

Here are the pics.

the inner top of the groove to its other size diamater is 2.903"

And the most Outer rim is 3.150" Which would explain the 3.2" pulley measurement most talk about.

Pulleyboys uses "top of the groove" measurements, thats why i included that in the post.

Ill report back with the older one's measurements.

I got the new one installed, and measured the old one.

All i gotta say is wow, this old pulley weighs about 3 times the new pulley.

The old pulley from groove to groove is about 3.198"

and the outer Rim to rim is 3.455"

This also matches with Greg's post with the link he posted.

Pulley Size | PSI Expected
3.20 | 4.00

3.40 | 3.00

And, good news for the most part, the new pulley gives out 4psi with spikes of 4.5psi at times.

Time to go back to the dyno for a tune.

i was digging thru some old posts/threads...and look what i came up with...

Wang2k wrote:I wanted to add that my stock pulley says 3.4 on it, and i held it against my buddies 3.4 pulley he was about to put on his GTP, and it was indeed exactly the same size...i was freaking out when my boost gauge only read 2.5-3 psi, trd changed to a 3.2 inch pulley without changing the advertised boost. 3 psi sucks and made me wish i hadnt bought the charger at all. TRD is weird

Just a question, i should go get the car Tuned once more correct? i went from 2.5~3psi to 4~4.5psi

when they tuned the car, the A/F is set at 11.8:1

Im going on Tuesday for a retune but i was wondering if this is necessary? maybe get more hidden power out the setup since im getting more boost now.

minimal increase at best, but if you have the extra money to get it retuned just to be safe, i'd do it.
