it might make it a little louder...

I'm planning on gutting mine when I get back and I have the same rotten egg problem at times.

It was the direct port gun powder injection kit. You should not have done that. It should probably make up for the power loss you are getting from the supercharger though.

Push it in Neutral then... That's how I snuck out of the house, because when I had the SenCrap I'd have to sit there and turn the engine over 3-4 times before it started (since my assigned space was right below the house it was a lot more obvious), so since I usually back into parking spaces and there was a gentle slope that went straight out from my folk's house, I would pop the car in neutral, give it a gentle nudge then try to start it after I was a good 30 yards out. Folks never suspected a thing.

Cat Gut

Postby PDX SuperSolara » Wed Jul 12, 2006 10:06 am

One thing to keep in mind if you are running without a cat (some of our cars have 3) is that the rear oxygen sensor checks converter efficiency and will set a code with no cat. Of course you can always install an oxygen sensor simulator to prevent that. Of course this part is leagal only for race cars that are never driven on public roads. But I personally know of one car that easily passed the Oregon emissions test with no cats! Very odd.

Wow... all this talk about stinky kitties... How's that saying go? Oh yeah..

Smells like fish, tastes like chicken, so plug your nose and keep on lickin'!

But eww, if the cat smells like gunpowder or rotten eggs, she's got some issues...

i have no cat. and no rear 02, and a CEL all the time. Ure probably thinking how does he know when a different, bad code comes on.

I dont care number 1, number two if something is messing up i will know without the code. and 3 it flashes if its something serious

I posted something recently regarding this on a Camry. Check it out.

To summarize:
1.) It is the sulfur in your fuel.
2.) Sulfur is difficult to remove from the converter substrate. It will take a little time till the SO2 molecules release from the substrate.
3) Gutting you cat can hurt performance. Imagine exhaust flow entering an empty converter housing. Not only will you get a deep nasty tone but flow is disrupted as it tries to exit the converter. (Increasing backpressure) The converter substrate (so long as the CPI is low enough) will straighten out exhaust flow. The days of restrictive converters are in the past.

I agree about the empty cat housing, i had a dodge ram that i did that too and it sounded like ass with little to no gain.

If your gonna do it i suggest taking the cat off and after its hollow have ure shady exhaust shop expand the inlet and outlet so that a pipe can be ran through the convertor so that the convertor is there for visual inspection but there is no hollow chamber nasty tinny noise problem. I didnt do this because where i live noone cares

Also I have never gutted out a perfectly functioning convertor, i just have never replaced a bad one either lol...
