My Final Boost Checklist...

My Final Boost Checklist...

Postby CamryOnBronze » Mon Jul 16, 2007 5:10 pm

Alright, the time is rapidly approaching for me to install my TRD Supercharger. I think Ive got just about everything covered, but I wanted to run what Ive got past you guys to see if there is anything else I could be missing or if you have any suggestions. Here it goes:

I Currently Have:

TRD complete supercharger kit with EBC
Manual EGR Tube
Magnecor Spark Plug Wires
IK22 Spark Plugs
Apexi SAFC 2
Brembo F/R rotors
Hawk HPS Pads
Megan EGT Gauge
Megan Oil Pressure Gauge
Megan Boost Gauge

On Order/Installing Soon:

Jim's Fuel Mod
Stainless Steel Brake Lines
Timing Belt
Water Pump
OEM Replacement Gaskets (used in install)

Mods for Later Use:

5.5 PSI Pulley
Walbro Fuel Pump
Supra MAF
Supra Injectors
ACT Clutch Kit

Im sure I am forgetting something, but I think thats it for now... I kind of have a bit of overkill and stuff that I wont use until the spring when i hopefully up the boost, but I really believe that if you are going to boost a car, it needs to be done well and I dont want to miss anything that could cause a problem.

Feel free to chime in with any suggestions or opinions, thanks guys :)

Wow, that's a great list :D The only thing for later is to get a Dayco polycog belt #5060880. It's a little smaller and has better grip, especially with the 5.5lb pulley. They probably have a belt for the 4lb pulley, but I never looked into that before I changed. Do a search for dayco polycog belts on google and you'll see they're better.

I'd also recommend you getting the Walbro 255lph fuel pump. I've got the 5.5lb pulley, with the Supra MAF and injectors and I'm running very lean with the 190lph. You might not experience the same, but it's nice to be sure.

Oh yeah, you should also jump on the JPP headers and y-pipe from SC V6! I know they're expensive, but you'll definately want them later! What sucks is that they're getting harder and harder to come by. I just know I felt a big difference when I got them, it's was money well spent. Good luck and happy boosting! :D

skip the egt gauge...pick up a wideband.

and get a stage 3 clutch + lightened flywheel

and to add to what astro said- get hte 255 while you're at it since you're planning on higher boost. As well, make sure you get the high pressure one as well.

I'm soooo happy that I got the lightened flywheel when I did my swap....cuz I'll be damned if I had to pull my engine again to install one later

I'd say you got it covered. The 255 wouldn't be bad like Astro and Puss said, but I'm running fine with my 190. Up to you...the pulley is also a good idea, even to just buy one as a back-up in case the origional pulley breaks, since you can't necessarily walk into a shop and expect them to have that longer belt for the s/c. I just have mine sitting in my trunk.

Sounds good guys... The fuel pump isnt going in until i up the boost someday, unless anyone thinks I need it right now at 4 psi... I think I should be fine with the stock pump though.

I will look into picking up the belt for when i run 5.5 psi, I hadnt heard about that one... thanks for the tip!

King- I have an ACT clutch that should handle what i plan to run someday, but I dont have the Fidanza flywheel yet... I'll pick one up and install it with the clutch before I go to 5.5 psi next summer. For right now though I dont want to mess with the clutch- My stock clutch has about 3k miles on it, so it should hold at 4 psi just fine for a while.

I do plan to pick up a wideband AF gauge as well as the JP headers eventually, but I cant really drop the dough at the moment. I am not one to think widebands are too much money as I know it is an invaluable tuning tool, but I have spent too much for right now, so Ill be waiting a bit on that. I want the JP headers for sure, but I had planned to get a set next summer, not so soon... so we'll see what happens, but I dont think I can spend the dough right now.

Dawgz- I didnt know you still needed a picture of the pulley, I thought you got the other pulley now anyways... remember I dont have internet unless Im at the library, so I dont really have the time... sorry man.

Thanks for the advice guys, keep it coming if you think of anything else... Ive still got a good two weeks before Ill really have the time to get my hands dirty.

Sweet ride man, looks damn good. Good luck on your quest for power. Where you gonna mount the gauges?

Oh ya, I've had my camry since May but not nearly as much progress as these guys. Just Injen SRI with extension, trd front strut brace, TB spacer, intake heat wrape, tinted the windows, head unit, and Jim's Torque Rod on the way

Yeah, well i was on a camry mission already and ran into issues, so i just jumped on the chance to get a different car

SCV6 sold his supra MAF kit, so i am back to wanting/needing one of those... I already have a clutch, SC, but I would like to snag your fidanza flywheel if I can...

I am mounting the gauges in a dash pod above the center console.

any other advice, keep it coming :)
