FINALLY TUNED!!! ** see pg 2 for dyno sheet **

Postby that1mexguy » Fri May 18, 2007 8:55 am

So after 2 long years of trying to get my ride tuned (and you guys helped too!! thanks!!!!), I finally got it to the shop yesterday and today, after 7 months of having the lara sitting in the garage collecting dust, i drove it to work! woohooo!!!

I was very busy yesterday that I was not able to stay at the shop, but when I picked it up I asked the guy if he had any issues, and if he knew the dyno numbers when I brough it in. He laughed and said the numbers were pretty bad, or better yet, horrible!!! Since it was in safe mode because I was not able to tune it the day I got the SC installed, he told me the dyno #s were at 137hp torque, yes.. that IS sad. He said at 1st he wasn't able to tune it because it was coming either too rich, or too lean, so he decided to do some research around, and what do you know... he ended up at SolaraGuy. Before he mentioned he had found his answers here, he said he found other guys with the same set up, that's when I knew he ended up here and I told him that, better yet, I could've told him that. Anyway, after some reading he was able to tune it no problems.

He couldn't get me a print out of the dyno sheet (printer malfunction) but he will be emailing me the #s and I'll post them as soon as I get them. He also mentioned that he was very surprised at the #s. Now if I remember correctly, he said I was pulling 251 cranck, and 233 tq (i think, i'll confirm when i get the dyno sheet). Regardless, the car feels and runs great and already had my 1st official kill, unfortunately it was another Camry (Gen4) but he was asking for it!!! quick details, i was trying to check out his wheels, he kept pulling off, by the 3rd time he tried to pull off i gunned it, i passed him, saw the black smoke coming out his exhaust, yet i continued to get farther from him... he then gave up. :)

Ok so I'm happy now, now i just gotta re-touch the chipped paint and back to business. Now I gotta learn how to take off and properly shift to 2nd and 3rd so I can take it to the strip and see my time. Alrighty, thanks for reading and stay tuned for more!!! 8)

good to hear that your car's back out....

but that's 255whp though, right?? not at the crank....or else that's some bad tune for a 5-spd at 6psi....really bad....

Most dyno's read to the wheels only. If they display flwhp then they are estimating it from the whp and adding back the drivetrain loss.

ok i dont know where the 255 came from, but it's close to 251, but if this is bad, then what should it be? everybody i've talked to tells me this is a good number. I was expecting more, this is true, but others with similar set up have similar numbers, what am I missing here?

I plan on taking it to Church's? The same place where SleeperSolara went in Long Beach. I'll talk to you more tomorrow at the meet.

I think if you got JPP headers and y-pipe you'll get alot more out of it.
