supercharger for Avalon 3.0 VVT-i?

i've heard conflicting reports about the TRD supercharger working or not working on the Avalon's 3.0 with VVT-i on the toyotanation forums. U solara guys seem pretty smart, do you know if it'll work?

also is the supercharger the best way to go with toyota v6's? I keep reading about busted piston threads on here. :-?

VVti is similar to Vtec, and the problem with that is that at higher RPM's the camshafts slide over and make the duration for exhaust and intake greater... they overlap a bit which is what causes the delima for boosting a Vtec or VVTi... the overlaping of the intake and exhaust duration makes it damn near impossible to hold any boost in the cylinder

you could always use nitrous, that will save you some money.

V-tec controllers just make it so you can adjust when the vtec kicks in right? RPM wise that is

so you can get a TRD supercharger to work just fine with VVT-i, but how?

it still doesnt help him because the issue is the high compression in the vvti motor.

power enterprise just released a vvti/vtec controller, maybe you can take advantage of that.

i first saw this at a import car magazine back in june. they had a article explain how that thing works, but i forgot which magazine. my guess is superstreet. search around, you might find some distributor of power enterprise.

nevermind, i called these guys: subarustore

and they carry it, said it's $475, but they dont know anything about it since it's new.

ok... so i get the boost controller, then what? TRD supercharger? What about all these horror stories of busting pistions? Anyone sell forged pistions? I mean if i'm gonna do this i might as well spend a little extra $$$ and get it done right the first time, nothing worst than a money pit car.

Its not necessary to upgrade your pistons and internals unless you want to run more then 6psi. 5.5 is the limit for stock internels. Even at that you would need some other upgrades to boost safetly. THere are lots of informative people on this board. Pretty sure youll find what you need.
