At least you can have the s/c rebuilt now before installing it. I had my car broken down for 2 days while I ripped out my s/c and took it in to the shop. With the age of these s/c's getting older, everyone buying a used kit should just factor in the cost of a rebuild with the cost of the kit.

and yah...that is quite a deal for replacing all 4 bearings and (I presume) all the seals in the nose as well. The nose is supposed to be pretty tough to rebuild since if something is slightly off aligned, it will leak.

also...not surprised it needs a rebuild- previous owner was running 12+ psi. But I agree as well...for a good price on a blower, a rebuild should be expected

Supercharger

That SC shouldn't need a rebuild at all. The grease that went into the bearings was never black grease to start---it was a synthetic that started out as a blue green and after it is runn and dirt and heat and carbon get caught in the grease it changes color to black. I don't think that anyone has taken as good of care of their chargers and if this guy is going to "rebuild" it for $400.00 that is half prce from anyone else. I think he is just trying to make a quick buck off of you. The tube is stainless steel and I told you what to do--just cut the pipe at both ends of the wrinkles and sub in some high temp heater hose with clamps. You can barely see the pipe in th eback of the charger at all if that is what you ar worried about. It is not as hard as you are making it out to be. My only concern is when you told me that you sprayed the rotors with carb cleaner and the teflon started to flake off. If it is only a few little spots you'll be just fine. Don't let anyone take advantage of you. I could have sold this charger to other people for a lot more money but I wanted it on your car because it has the least amount of miles on it and you are a good guy. I stood by my word and as you were the first to respond to the add you were the first in line. Don't let me down. If you need to call me just pick up the phone. You have my number.

If you dont want to get into spending a lot of money or you really dont think youll be up for what you might be going through, then dont be afraid to back out and sell it. I know Ill be the only person on here to say that to you, but if I learned anything from my last build, it's that you have to do things for YOU, not for the rest of the world.

That being said, I dont think you are in bad shape and you should be able to get this sorted out pretty easily- good luck man!

This is a decent solution for all of you who didn't get the trd egr pipe with your kit. I'm sure you could just cut the factory pipe and the above idea would work.

Did you get your EGR tube repaired? I had to modify mine from a A/T to fit my 5 speed. I had a friend TIG weld it together - no problem. It is stainless steel.

no not yet, im pretty convinced now that the welder i took it too was trying to screw me. he told me it was titanium and wanted a 100 before he would touch it. i kind of threw the s/c project on the backburner right now b/c im doing a tranny swap. i will need to get it welded tho eventually
