IN-Area Tune

Postby akora12 » Tue Jun 24, 2008 10:53 am

Anyone know of a good place to get a car dyno tuned in my area? At this point, the nearest place I've found is 87 miles away (Indianapolis) but the shop is only "somewhat" experienced with the SAFC. There are tons of places with dynojets in Fort Wayne, but they only tune GM vehicles.

I'm currently in the process of increasing my boost to 5.5psi with supra injectors, walbro 190, jim's fuel mod, AFC Neo, and AEM wideband. I should also have my exhaust complete before tuning as well. I'm fine with driving a bit, so any places in MI, OH, KY, and IL might work.

You should call those places and find out if they're at least familiar with the Neo, regardless of what type of vehicles they "normally" work on. A good tuner should be able to work on anything. Only saying this because the other guys that are 87mi. are only "somewhat" familiar. But, do what you feel most comfortable with.

Actually, I found out they only work on GM vehicles after calling them. Many of their websites listed that they welcome imports, but only for dyno runs not actual tuning. I'm not all that comfortable with taking my car to a shop that only "somewhat" knows the SAFC/Neo, so I'm hoping someone has some insight into another shop nearby that is experienced with our cars. I swear, everyone around here is only concerned with mustangs and corvettes.

^^what BS...if I was a shop owner and I knew the equipment, I wouldn't turn a customer away for anything, regardless of what I worked on day-to-day. More money in the bank, retards.

Honestly, go post this up on TN as well, as some guys there who are not on SG may be able to recommend a place. I would not go to a place that is only "somewhat" experienced in something. Hope you can find a good shop that will do it correct for you. :)

wtf? how does a shop only "kinda" know the safc/neo?? then what do they tune with all the time? standalones and emanage??

but more to the point...tuning with an safc is the same with pretty much any car....until you start looking at timing and adjustable boost, etc, tuning a/f is tuning a/f

^^^The mechanic told me he had only used a SAFC a few times several years ago. I had to explain to him how it worked and he still seemed a bit lost. Initially, he gave me the same response as everyone else saying that they don't really mess with imports.

Check out allspeedperformance.com in Muskegon, MI. There is a guy there named Mike that does all of the work on my car, including tuning with the SAFC, so Im sure he could help you out. Probably a hike though for sure...

I think its about 3 hours from ft wayne, I met a guy down there to get my sparcos last semester...

I was hoping you'd chime in on this. At this point, a 3-hour drive is the best option I have. Plus, it would be nice to have someone that has worked on a 1MZ before. I'm still checking around Indiana for a worthy shop, but I'll definitely check into this. Thanks.

yeah sure thing, he knows the solara pretty well after having to deal with mine so much, haha. He will be retuning mine with a pulley and injectors soon, so Im sure it would be very similar to yours.
