Now, using the turbo does have more benefits in the long run, like much more power, longer life, etc.. but its not very feasable.
you can turbo charge that car for around $4k..

10psi turbocharged provides quite a bit more power than
10psi supercharged

its up to you on what you are looking for.. for me supercharged is fine.. i dont need more than 350hp.. couldnt use it really if i had it

i guess you never turboed a OBDII japanese car

Just go the SC route. If you want the turbo that bad, at the risk of getting mauled here *hides*, get a Subaru.

1mz's start to break ring lands with the blower at around 7psi. But you have to take into account that with an intercooler you are decreasing stresses on the engine compared to just cramming the hot air in the combustion chamber with the s/c. I wonder how much more boost you could run on stock pistons with a turbo.
The stock pistons really do suck though, and ive pulled a couple out that were missing the top ring land and the engine wasnt even supercharged, just a high mileage es330. Thats why when my engine failed and was replaced under warranty(the oil pump broke) as soon as i got it back i dropped the engine back out and replaced the pistons and rods with forged peices. If i would have had to shell out the cash to get the whole engine machined, inspected, etc. i would have just left my car stock.
