EBC hook up.

EBC hook up.

Postby Dawgz » Sun May 20, 2007 12:18 pm

So i understand that hooking up the EBC for the auto but in Manual Spec gives u tha rev limiter safety but gives u boost in first gear as well...correct?

so my EBC is currently hooked up like this:

But i have a question... Wires 'A' and the two D's are connected to ground? three wires to ground? Did i misunderstand the diagram?

I can't recall the answer to your first question as I run with no EBC but you are correct on the ground hookups.

Way back about 2001, I called TRD and they said that the EBC will cut boost between shifts no matter if you use the manual or automatic hookup. They also gave me a few different stories on weather or not the EBC will limit boost till about 4k rpms or not depending on how you hook up the EBC.
Don't quote me but my best recall on their last story was that the EBC on an auto will kick in at about 4000 rpms and cut boost between shifts. A manual hook up was still supposed to cut boost between shifts but allow boost a little earlier. You are probably seeing something like the latter. It is what it is.

ummmm....if the ebc cut boost at 4K and our cars redline at 6700 and also doesn't hit the full powerband until 4K, then what's the point of a supercharger?

My bad. It is about 3k isn't it. I tell you, I haven't had the EBC on for so long I misspoke.

I must've really screwed this up. It comes on about 3k till redline. Cuts boost between shifts on manual and auto tranny cars. This is exactly why I run no EBC but I have a 5 spd.

Basically, you wanted to know if your thoughts on the wiring was correct and it is. You also saw boost cut during shifts and it is supposed to. That's how the EBC works according to TRD. No matter if you have a manual or auto transmission. I should have made it clear that TRD first said that the EBC would only cuts boost between shifts and cut at redline on a manual transmission car. They said you would get boost early when you needed it. Ends up that wasn't really true. It comes on at about 3k rpms to save the transmission and motor. Hope I cleared up this mess I made.

So why dont all the Auto guys hook up their EBC in manual transmission spec?

Gentlemen TRD's thinking to cut the boost at the shift points was to preserve the transmission. Since I have had extensive work done to my transmission my tech and I did a work around and my SC builds boost across the entire power band without any drop off. The car will burn the tires through the 1st to 2nd gear shift points, recalling I have an auto car.
