Is there a particular exhaust setup i should be running for a boosted solara?? I was thinking 2.75 piping w/ a high flow cat? Is that too big or will that work well? Let me know what you guys are running.

Exhaust size

Postby PDX SuperSolara » Wed Mar 29, 2006 1:51 pm

The JPP exhaust uses 3" mandrel bent tubing after the collector. It works great on my 7-8 psi boosted car but it does flow more with the headers. Stock headers with more than 5.5 psi boost become really restrictive above 5000 RPM. So it depends on the boost you run. If you are using stock headers then 2.75 should be plenty big. You could probably get away with up to 6 psi with just a little drop in power at the top end, but every S/C car I have installed the JPP on made a difference midrange to redline. The more boost the bigger the JPP helps. Stick with no more than 5.5 boost and stock headers and 2.75 would be good.

JPP setup would be best, however any aftermarket catback exhaust will be ok. I'm not willing to spend ~$1200 for them, so I'm waiting till someone sells them or they go on sale (yea right?! ). I have the Apexi WS catback, pretty happy with it, just wish it was a little louder. I think the piping is 2.5" if I remember correctly. But in the mean time I'm thinking of gutting my catalytic and buying one of those O2 simulators to free up the exhaust.
