If its a lease, go every 5k. Every 5k or 6 months to keep the warranty up. However if your purchasing it and plan on having it for a while I would not go any longer than 3k between oil changes. I've got 180k on my car and have been using Synthetic oil and changing every 3k or 3 months for the last 10 years.
If your going to go 5k, use synthetic. I would never go 5k on dino oil. I can't understand why car makers are pushing the intervals on oil changes using regular dino oil.

Once I see that 3000 miles is approaching, I start looking for those coupons that they send me or go through the coupon booklet that came with the car and by the time I find it, I'm about 3500 miles and that's when I usually take it in for an oil change.

I wish they had lifetime oil changes. My parents bought a Mazda 626 back in '93 and Mazda had that offer and they'd change your oil every 5000 miles and I thought that was such a sweet deal and you couldn't go wrong. They just traded the 626 for an '04 Toyota Sienna, fully loaded.

check your oil if its 2k,3k 4k or 5k whatever.

the color of the oil determines if you need to change it.

on average i change mine every 3k on mobil 1. reason why? cuz it's dark.

dark at 3k already? is your air filter dirty? I routinely check my oil as soon as I hit 3k, but dont normally get the oil change till about 4.5k thats when it starts to look dark.

I will be going 6K with Redline Oil. I have had great success with Redline in my TA, 80K miles.

Its simple. Oil is cheaper than metal. I use mobil 1 and still change my oil after 3k miles. Mobil 1 and most synthetics are must more resistant to break down, but they still are prone to getting just as dirty as regular oil.

I'd rather spend a few extra bucks now for the oil change, than a few g's later.

Just my $.02

i also check my oil level ever 1k just to make sure im not burning oil or like trd mole said to se if the oil looks dark....

my car has 50 k right now and its running like when i first bought it... i also do a drain and refill for radiator fuild and transmission fuild every 10k or so.. just to keep all the fuilds maintianed..

Thats my issue.

Using Mobil 1 every 3k can be costly, and that oil can last for quite a long time. I suggest 5k when using Synthetic, and 3k if you are going to use traditional oil.

Todays cars are cleaner running, so 5K is a very safe limit for most "usual" driving habits. The more you push your car, the earlier you'd have to change the oil. All Lexus 96+ is on the 5K oil change schedule... so I'm sure your SOlaras would be safe on it too. The older cars (ie 90-95 Lexus) were on a 2500/3000 mile service schedule.

I believe the oils are better too. With synthetic, I'd also definately say 5,000.
