2004 Nav????

Postby michaels artic frost » Tue Jun 15, 2004 8:30 am

I think slingshot got the NAV. I'm looking into an aftermarket Pioneer AVICN1 http://www.audio-warehouse.com/web/mdl/AVICN1/detail.asp

It rocks! It is identical to the ones used in Lexus models. When I test drove a Solara I made sure I drove one with it. I had no idea how to program it and neither did the salesman who was in the car with me. I figured it out and off we went to an address not too far away. So basically I ended up training the salesman. It is pretty easy to use and I did read the manual after I bought the car anyway to learn a few pretty cool things. It offers resolution down to 150 ft on the screen and 75 ft in major cities. For example, in Manhattan, the 75 ft setting allows you to identify some buildings and all one way signs on streets! I've used the detour feature a few times to steer me around traffic also.

I've got one... it's pretty damn cool. I had to take the car back to the dealership 2 times (3 if you count the time they turned me away) to get my antenna fixed because I wasn't getting any reception... now it's kick arse!

There is no tape cassette with the NAV radio, correct. Not a problem for me since I haven't played tapes in a car for ages.

Forgot to mention there is no 6CD changer either when you get the NAV. You have one CD player behind the NAV screen. But I think having the NAV far outweighs the changer. I'm wondering when Toyota will make a trunk mounted changer that works with this NAV radio. Has anyone heard anything on that?

The other thing is, there's no 6-disc CD changer with the NAV... at least for now...

I wanted a little extra flexibility w/ my radio as far as expanding thru a tape adapter - so thats why i said hey, i'll take the 6cd/cassette over navi...and by doing that, got me a convertible in 3 days instead of 3 months.

Sling - which LI dealer did you buy from?

my biggest turnoff with the NAV.

I go through CDs like crazy.

Now if it supported MP3s that I would have went for.

Now if they get an in-dash 6-in-1 and NAV unit.. I will be sold.

How come TOYOTA didn't go with an MP3/CD player or changer? It would have made our lives so much easier... :drinking:

I bought from Millenium Toyota in Nassau County. Huge dealership and good deal.

gotcha - i bought from Penn Toyota, after checking out Westbury first - the two closest to my parents -

Westbury was jacking up the prices ridiculously on the convertible, and Penn was more reasonable - then, someone elses car fell into my lap - so it worked out well for me - got the car in 3 days instead of the 3 months that its taking to get cars up here
