tire pressure light (sorry posted again)

tire pressure light (sorry posted again)

Postby gyrlee22 » Mon May 10, 2004 4:52 am

The first day I had my car I was looking around this site and I found a few posts about the tire pressure light coming on for no reason. I didn't think too much of it, but I just kept in mind if this happened to me I could come look it up the site and see what everyone did then. Anyway, my light came on. I checked the tires, all were fine, so I just reset it. Well, two days ago... it came back on. For some reason, I can only find a few posts now on the issue... but I swear I had found a really good post before w/ ppl who experienced this problem and what they did and how dealers acted (which I can't find the same post now). So, just wondering if anyone knows where to find more info on what I should do. So, sorry I posted this again, but like I said... I just can't find that one post I had found before. I hope that all makes sense and if anyone can help me out, that would be great. Thanx :)

Go to the Toyota Service location nearest you, and tell them to check the Tires Sensor lines, mine did the same, and after 3 days checking tire pressures, and even swapping tires and wheels with another Brand new Solara never fixed the issue, so when they checked the sensor lines going to the computer, the manager told me that one of the sensor was loose, after he re-adjusted it, light hasn't turned on again, it has been 3 weeks.

so the only way to go about fixing this bug is by visiting the dealer?

need to get a for sure answer before it goes into the announcements/sticky forum.

It appears so, I tried by myself a couple of days trying Tire Pressure, and everything related to Tires, and nothing fixed it, not until they checked the sensor going to the Computer.

My car had this problem and I didn't go to the dealer to fix it. The answer is in the manual and involves setting tire pressures to the correct amount and resetting the low tire indicator by I think pressing in a button on the lower left of the dash. I got rid of the low tire pressure indicator light this way and it hasn't reappeared since. By the way this happened to me in the middle of the winter.

slingshot, lucky you, do you think that if my problem was just that, I would have taken my car to the Service?

Like I said before after couple of days, doing what the MANUAL SAYS, and having correct Tire pressure (32 PSI), resetting the Light (About a dozen times) I decided to take it to the Service, and it was a loose connection from one of the sensors to the computer.

So, what tells you that is not a common problem in the Manufacturing process, and just a simple coincidence?

I guess maybe his problem could be like yours then. Hope this isn't a widespread sensor loose connection.

When you have Americans assembling your car you are bound to have more simple manufacturing issues like this :)

this is what i did... if you read my post it says "I reset it" I (actually my boyfriend) set the tire pressure to 32psi (what it says) and then we did that button resetting deal. Light is back on...

i'm just gonna call the dealership today... no biggie. Thanx tho :D

I have reset the monitor several times following the instructions in the manual and within hours or the next day the light is back on. My pressure is at the correct specs also. I'm planning on getting some black tape to put over it. I Don't have time to go all the way to the dealer and sit there for this kind of stuff. Waaaaaaaaah

haha

I was at toyota, and i test drove one of the SLE cars.
while i was driving it i noticed that blinking light on the bottom left corner.. i wonder what it was. they had a little booklet attatched to the shifter, and my friend was reading it, he said it was the tire pressure.

You would think toyota would try to fix this if they havent even sold the car yet and people are test driving it, and its already getting errors. kind of funny

I am glad I came here. I experienced the very same issue this past weekend I was like the f*%k my tires have enough air in them(I always have a pressure guage in my glovebox) This problem is damn near irritating as the stupid light keeps coming on. I am taking this car back to the dealer to fix this.
