Here was my initial theory burn audio tracks onto a DVD and you should have a long playing cd that can play in some devices ( eg car stereo with dvd navigation system)

I tried it outright burning a giant selection of audio files in toast 6 ( Mac)

heres what happened 1st a disk can only hold 99 songs ok 99 giant extended remixes it is !!!

99 songs filled 2.4 gigs of the 4.7 that was enough to try my idea out anyway.

Then I got the error message that dvds could not record audio files

DAMN

would have been pretty cool if my idea worked would have been sweet to play threw 1 cd and get 4 x the music.

why cant dvds record audio files?

is it a music industry "thing" to prevent Long Playing CDs?

would there be a way around this?

It's called MP3s. I'm sorry, I had to do it. I respect your drive and imagination though.

It is impossible because there is no dvd audio standard out yet.

Last I heard they were working on it but i doubt it will become mainstream for a while

Well the Acura TL has a stereo standard with DVD Audio playback capability. My PC soundcard plays DVD audio so I can play them on my PC. So there is a standard and some carmakers are already putting DVD Audio capable players in cars. What Shoe wants can only be realized by burning MP3 audio files to a CD or DVD (it will hold many more than 99 songs) but then he would need an MP3 audio player in his car. The Toyota DVD navigation reader can not play MP3 files.

You are limited to 99 tracks per cd/dvd as you noted. If you burn them as mp3s, there is no limit
