First Door Ding

First Door Ding

Postby got sport » Mon Mar 08, 2004 11:15 pm

I got my first door ding last night. A buzzed friend accidentally opened the door too hard and hit the bumper of a dodge ram.

Result: a silver dollar sized ding on the passenger door.

Damn.... Any recommendations to get the ding out? Anyone tried those dent contraptions they sell at Pep Boys, or should I get it fixed professionally?

Anyone else suffered any dings yet?

A tiny ding about a few centimeters in diameter. I have no idea how these things show up but its there about it's bound to happen. Unless you keep your car in the garage at all times, your car will have it's blemishes. It's just a realitry of life that's hard to swallow. What annoys me is when I park evenly between the lines in a parking lot and people still manage to hit your door. I have a scuff mark that put fine scratches in my paint. I have no idea who did it since it was at my gym parking lot, but that just annoys me that people have no respect for others property. I just wish damage on whatever door hit me even though it wasn't much. It's just the principle. You know? :drinking:

And that is why I park only in end spots or far away from other cars. You can prevent dings and scratches, it just takes more effort on your part.

Call me anal, but I need the car to look and feel new for years to come.

You are not alone..you and others like myself who park away from the crowd. I went one month on vacation (gave my car to my sister when i was away) and came back to say hello to a coupe of dings! I know exactly how you feel!

Same here. I'd rather walk the extra hundred feet then get a ding. But the worst is when you scout out this great parking spot that's away from other cars and on an end, but then you come back to your car only to find a monstrous Suburban parked about two inches from your door...and you know there's a good chance that it's driven by a soccer mom with wreckless kids!

But as far as fixing your ding...I would recommend taking it to a DentPro or a professional body restorer. I heard that some of those dent removal kits leave a bigger impression then the actual ding itself if not used exactly right. Bit of risk if you asked me...I'd rather pay a bit extra to have it done by a pro.

I was quoted $75 for paintless dent removal PER dent...ding or whatever you call it.
