praised by some stranger?

Yesterday I was filling my car at the local gas station. There was a a middle aged man with his shinny black GS430 beside me and a lady with her Chevy on the far end.

I was minding my own business when suddenly I heard the lady spoke, "WOW! That's one beautiful car!"

I didn't even turn because I agreed, the Black GS430 is indeed beautiful.

Well, low and behold, the lady came over to my Solara... and she asked me what kind of car is it, must be expensive, etc...etc...

The man with the Lexus, he just stared...

Strange, huh!

Cool story. There must be many other stories like that from members here. Let's keep this thread going with similar stories of complete strangers giving you compliments. Hasn't happened to me yet but it happened when I first got my Gen1 right when it came out and none were on the road.

Just happened to me last week in my 02 at a gas station. Some guy who worked for Chevrolet was asking me about it.
Please stop humping my car, owner privilege!

Was at a stop light in the middle of town, this past summer, when an elderly gentleman pulled up, put his window down and signaled for me to put mine down (i thought my I was doing something wrong with my music or w/e) and he asked me all about my car and said he was thinking of buying his daughter one for the upcoming holiday season, because mine looked soo nice. The light then switched and we parted ways.

When you're driving your Solara and people stare- you know you have done something right.

Ummm, I think the point of messages here was detailing praise for the GEN 2 Solaras since this is the Gen2 forum. We all know that the Gen1 and 1.5's all got many praises. But we now I think want to hear some cool stories about praises for GEN2 cars. So GEN2 Solara owners, let's hear some stories.

Same thing happened to me the day I picked up my car. The salesmen were all telling me I got a Lexus SC430 for half price. Then a new customer walked up and told me how nice my car looked.

NOooooooooooooooo thats not it those gen 1 guys just dont get anymore praise now that our gen 2s are out. They are just reminising about the good old days, spot lights on us now.

But anyway my stories as follows: We have a program here for spot checking drivers that may have been drinking anyway i was comming home bout 12 ish and boy did i get a good cop. They were set up under a bridge I pull up with the window down the guys looking at my car he barely looked up at me had anything to drink tonight? NO SIR i say witth my convincing voice. HEY IS THIS THE NEW SOLARA? yup HOW DO YOU LIKE IT? love it! NICE CAR, IS IT FAST? Now hes got me, Im like ya it accelerates really well... BUT ONLY TO THE SPEED LIMIT RIGHT?!?! :) he says with a smile. yes sir. NICE CAR HAVE A GOOD NIGHT thank you and off i go.

Usually these guys have their face right in the car and are smelling your breath as you speek with a flashlight in your eye checking for red eyes and dialating pupils. This guy had his flash light running all over my car.

I think she was hitting on you AND she liked the Solara. I'm sure all of us on the forum can assume you took her for a ride and... :o

As I was walking out of the mall and back to my car, I saw an 04 Accord Coupe park next to me at the far end of the lot. The four guys in the Accord got out and surrounded my 04 SLE and were really checking it out when I walked up and caught them a little off guard. The driver seemed embarassed by the awkward moment, but had some nice compliments for the 04 Solara. He seemed really drawn to the car. I thought that was interesting.
