2004 Solara review

2004 Solara review

Postby SoLarry » Wed Jan 13, 2010 4:38 pm

I was over at www.thecarconnection.com reading a review of the 2004 Solara, http://www.thecarconnection.com/review/ ... mry-solara and in the review he states: "Climb the mountain atop which the SLE sits and there you’ll find automatic climate control, a power driver’s seat, a JBL audio system that produces better sound than Heifetz on a Stradivarius in Carnegie Hall (that’s John Pearley Heifetz, in case you’re wondering), a sunroof, enough phony wood interior trim to cover the sides of every surviving ’65 Country Squire, leather covering just about everything the driver touches, and a truly cool illuminated center console panel. Is there anything different about the center console in an SLE from the SE? Or does this guy not know what he's talking about?

The author of that article is probably a midget, judging by that "mountain" comment.

the SLE would have climate control
and heated seats (the bezel around the buttons is like a "clear" looking plastic)

those are the only 2 center console options i can think of that only SLE models can have

Ive also got an SLE, but have no pics of its interior... it dosent look too much different, stereo is 98% the same controls, and the climate control has a small display with buttons instead of knobs

I have no clue what the author refers to as a "truly cool illuminated center console panel". Other than the fact that the illuminations are all green.

"Climb the mountain atop which the SLE sits ..." sounded a little
suspect from the outset (haha), but when he went from
"Heifetz on a Stradivarius in Carnegie Hall" to "truly cool," then
I knew he was just writing to hear himself talk. Nonetheless, my
console is "truly cool" enough for me.

Gen 2 Solaras are thee most lowest lit dashes on the planet. I agree with Jimmm, the writer just needs to cut back on his peyote. Case in point:

"...the chrome-looking Toyota logo mounted on it is so big we assume it’s picking up faint radio signals from Alpha Centauri."

"....the pedals are trimmed in a common metallic element that has an atomic weight of 26.981539, an atomic number of 13 and was discovered by Hans Christian Oersted in 1925. Give up? Okay, they’re trimmed in aluminum."

"...the SLE V-6 is also available with electronic stability and traction control — because you may just not be man or woman enough to handle this car without them."

"The SE Sport’s 17s use the same 215-millimeter cross-section width, but feature a more aggressive compound and tread that results in quicker reactions and high limits."
