Drivers side window is possessed

Drivers side window is possessed

Postby Sparky5e » Fri Aug 14, 2009 9:34 pm

My 07 Solara has been acting weird the past few days. I roll the windows down and then the drivers window won't do a thing. The motor acts like it wants to work but only moves the window a few inches and then less every time I try. If I leave it sit, then it will go all the way in one direction but then it bogs down again.

This is intermittent and don't know what the deal is. Maybe it's upset because I've been rolling down the windows without dropping the top. All you rag top owners know what I mean LOL.

Anyway it seems like the motor is getting overheated or something and won't work till it cools down.

Sorry for the long post, but wondered if anyone else has had this happen.

sounds like the one-touch circiut is getting overloaded or is on its way out.

That was my first thought but it does it in both directions, in the auto function for lowering the top and using the all windows up/down switch. The motor always tries to work when it is actuated but the motor stalls after it moves.

Right now everything works, so the dealer won't find anything other then I installed a CPE intake and soldered wires to the ECU.

It might be the regulator(motor) or the window sensor for the auto function.

I think I figured it out but will have the stealership fix it.

I hit the auto lower or open the top and the windows go all the way down and the motor stops. What if the motor never stopped? I think it would just get hot and then not want to go up. After the thing cools down it works fine. I now bump it up a little after it goes all the way down until I get it to the shop. Weird thing is most cars with widow motors would have tripped a circuit to protect a motor from a stall condition.

Regardless I'm done burning grey matter and they can fix it.

Actually if the motor keeps running when the window is all the way down, the motors pulls enough amps to blow the fuse. It's the same safety feature that prevents kids from cutting their heads off with the window.
Trust me, I'm a technician.
