Removing flasher relay ??

Removing flasher relay ??

Postby Sebas007 » Mon Apr 27, 2009 6:10 pm

Hi guys,
I need your help on this one. It will sounds crazy, I already changed the CF18-08 realy for my LED tails myself, however I don't remember how I made it. I just remember it was a real pain in the ass !!!! Before I live again this nightmare I was wondering if you have 1 hint or 2 to help me out.

The thing is I got a weird problem. My right flasher cannot blinks while I have no problem with the left one. I know it is not the bulb because when I un-lock my car with my remote...the flasher blinks (both). I also hear the sound of the blinker but I cannot see inside or outside the flasher blinking. Long story short, I'm pretty sure it is the relay, a loost contact or something because after my work day the right flasher was blinking without any problem !! I now it came back to death !

I bought today 2 CF18-08 relay...1 new and 1 spare even it not supposed to failed like that. I wonder what is your experience with this relay ?

Any help on this will be appreciate !
Bonus point for any tips making the removing of this stupid realy any easier !!!

Thanks

Sebas

Relay is in the driverside kick panel. You can't really miss it. It just pops in and out.

I know where it is...however, it might pops in and out but for that you need to know how it works. I mean, I can see crap in there it is all so close and dark. Just tell me your method, where you put some pressure to open it up ? Like I said I already make it 2 years ago...I still think it was luck while I was prying randomly, remember I'm like blind I cannot see anything, I was able to remove it...I still remember a great amount of joy thru all my body, like if I win an epic battle bare hands versus a grizzly !!

I was navigate solara waters on other forums. I'm still intriguish with the Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8L . I will wait some years to see what support they have and will have also for trouble to come out. I plan to buy an barely used one in 3 years. RWD + MT + force induction (aftermarket) will be my summer car. I don't want to put 1$ more on the Solara. I like it like that and it will still be my car for at least 1-2 years. I don't have many problems with it...just this flasher relay and a bad paint quality on some bumper parts. I still come here once a while to see what is going on.
Many great guys here !

Any other Gen 2.5 Tails conversion guys on this one ?? If you complete the setup by re-routing the blinkers towards the brake light you must use this relay or maybe resistor. I receive a PM confirming it is a pain in the ass. I guess it is in the TOP 3 of thing the most bad located in our world !! :P

Don't be shy of comments from other...any idea may be good on how removing this relay with easiness.

I just put 2 large resistors in the wiring in the trunk. It's really easy cause all the wires just run along the driver side. So remove the carpet and have at it.

according to that picture. The relay is in the kick panel. it should slide UP to unhook it from the assembly.

Yep like I said, I will verify again but I'm sure at 99.999% it doesnt go up but toward passenger side. I will fix this with the same luck I've used then ! ;)
