Alarm too sensitive...Neighbors left a note..!

Alarm too sensitive...Neighbors left a note..!

Postby 1stSolara » Thu Oct 30, 2008 6:13 am

Good Morning all,

my 2006 Solara SLE has a super sensitive alarm. Sometimes I park it near a busy street and from what my neighbors tell me, the slightest vibration on the car will set the alarm off.

Is there anyway to reduce the sensitivity of the alarm? I checked the owners manual but i couldn't find anything.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Chris

^^WTF does that mean? What doesn't make any sense to me.

Did you check the owners manual yet? It might be in there.

In my neighborhood, the 2nd note is carved in your hood with a can opener.

The 3rd note is a cinder block through your windshield.

There's never been a need for a 4th note.

Geez guys - how many times has he already said it's not in the manual??!!

I looked in mine before too (also a 2006) and I didn't find anything either. I actually WISH I could make mine a bit more sensitive, being a ragtop and all.

You might want to {shiver} ask your dealer if they know of a way to adjust it... just a thought.

I missed that it was a stock alarm. thought he was referring to an Aftermarket setup. Never knew stock alarms had sensitivity settings.

The factory alarm doesn't have a motion sensor. (thus no mention in the manual). What you ahve is aftermarket and possibly one installed by the dealership (at substantial extra cost so should be mentioned on the reciept). If it's the supplemental alarm there 'should' be a separate manual. If there's nothing with the car's paperwork check with your dealer.

If you purchased the car used maybe a previous owner installed an alarm. You'll have to look around under the dash for connections and perhaps a 'black box' with the manufacturers name. Once you find that finding instructions on the Web should be easy. Or, an aftermarket alarm might use something other than Toyota keyfob. Is there a manufacturer name on that?

Meanwhile is there another place to park your Solara? In the garage? Carport? Anyplace the neighbor won't be bothered?

Cheers
