90k Service

90k Service

Postby Nitin » Tue Oct 28, 2008 5:54 pm

Hey my 04 Solara is now due for its 90k service, the car still drives like it does since day one and looks just as beautiful. My question is would you guy at 93,000 miles would invest money on your solara like wheels, intake etc.......? I like the car but i can seem to justify all them money spent on the solara. Any advice would help. ???

Are you concerned with the investment of mods being worth it based on life left in your car? If so...look at the gen1 and 1.5's...some have finally gotten boost at or after 100K and are still running strong. Toyota has the reputation of building long lasting quality cars.

If you take care of your ride it should have no problem lasting another 93K. So I guess it all comes down to what you want to get out of those mods...style/performance?

Trading a Toyota because of having 93,000 miles on it is like throwing away a baseball glove that is just broken in.

Examples of why my Solara is a baby, at 94,000 miles.

It has never been aligned. I've had it checked every year, and after every tire service. (They do a free check). It has NEVER needed an alignment. I still can not believe it. The car goes straight down the road, at 65 mph I can drive with no hands on the wheel for a half minute.

I don't care what people say about the power of a Solara, I still WASTE people from 60 - 90 mph on the open road and mine is STOCK. Of course, I don't waste Corvettes, I'm talking comparable cars.

I drive behind people, and I see their car bounce all over the road, then bounce up and down like a boat and brace myself for a huge bump in the road, and my Solara dipd over it, up, down, firm and right back to normal. The suspension is still perfect.

No leaks.

Engine quiet as a mouse.

No rattles.

You get my point.

I am pushing about 96k on my solara due to my 75 mile round trip to work. I will never stop adding parts.....it makes your car more fun each time you work on it. I just recently upgraded from 18" wheels to 19x9 wheels and tires and love the look and how solid the car tracks now....especially at higher speeds. My first upgrade occurred at 40k and I have since done (bought as an SLE coupe w/ v6 and body kit/carbon fiber interior from dealer):

k&n intake and mod for open ram-air and removed resonator
cpu upgrade from dealer
lexus brakes
19" wheels and tires
magnaflow cat-back exhaust
upper and lower custom grills
dvd/nav (w/ voice recognition), speakers, amp and sub
removed badges except for toyota emblem on trunk.....its fun watching people try to figure out what it is!

Being an Arizona car i don;t need to change anything for the winter...but snowboard trips are simple now with a modified Honda Prelude roof rack (thanks craigslist) with wind deflector so I can easily carry 4 boards up top , fit 4 adults comfortable inside, and load teh trunk with luggage and travel easily.

I could not be happier with the car. Anytime I think about getting a new car I do a little upgrade and am happy again!

No rubs at all! I am actually temped to still drop an inch on suspension because there is still a gap in the wheel well.

Unfortunately I don't have the exact specs on how this upgrade occurred. I have a client who owns a Toyota dealership and they are very very good to me. I bought the wheels and tires for my birthday (they would fit stock set-up) and dropped my car off to get the wheels and tires installed, alignment and do my 90k service and new belts. When I picked it up they had done the brakes as a birthday present.

Its not a night and day difference since I had great pads on before, but its for sure an improvement. I will try and get some pictures snapped for here and next time I am at the dealer i will ask them to explain what all they had to do to make it fit
