auto window down not working

auto window down not working

Postby mcinque103 » Sat Oct 11, 2008 11:52 am

it seems that when the power to the window switch on the drivers side is lost, then given back, the auto down/up wont work. both times i took the drivers door panel off, the auto down/up on the window stopped working. after playing with the wiring a little, it would finally seem to work again. this time, i was changing my radio so i disconnected the battery. when i put it back on, again, the auto up/down wont work. no ammount of playing with the wires seems to help. i can her a click sound when i push the window switch all the way in one direction, but it wont do the auto thing. any ideas?

p.s.
when i get the pics uploaded on the computer, i'll post how i installed the radio and pac swi ps steering wheel control adapter.

Easy. Just hold the button down until the window opens all the way, and repeat so that the window closes all the way. That should fix it. It's supposed to recalibrate it.

BTW, same for the moonroof.

Mc,

If you have a moonroof you'll find you've also lost the 'auto' functions after disconnecting the battery. The procedure for resetting both the window (which you've already figured out) and moonroof are in your owners manual. To save you having to look it up. With the ignition switch in the 'on' position push and hold the 'tilt up' switch. The roof panel will tilt all the way up then will tilt down indicating auto mode is reset.

Cheers

I had a '96 Camry Wagon, and after a few years, the buttons on the driver door were behaving oddly. With all the opening and closing, the wire harness wears away at the wires, so they re-wired it and that fixed the problem.
