The "foggy stuff" you refer to is actually dirt and debris. A trip to AutoZone for some headlight cleaner worked great on my car.

depends on how degraded it is. The headlight cleaner or aluminum rim polish will clean off a good amount.

I bought one of those Flitz polishing wheels and the cleaner a while back. Works great, doesn't last that long though. If you get them looking good again, Turtle Wax Liquid Ice is a good protector for clear plastics.

PlastiX is amazing..mine become foggy every 6 months.. after I did it last month people tought that I changed my headlights for new ones! After I wax it with goldglass.

Work for me, I never sanded them before to use Plasti (but I have 1000 + 1500 +2000 sandpaper at home just in case)

If polishing with any of the mentioned products (remember... application of elbow grease is required) doesn't take it out, you might consider sanding. Its not that difficult, and results are great if they are very damaged.

Either way, here is the link

When I first got my car, my headlamps were in some serious need of tlc! I started with 1000 Grit Sand Paper. The results were amazing! I still thought that it could be better so I went ahead and gave 2000 Grit a go... Even better results! :D The only down side to this is that at certain angels you look at you're head lamps you will still see some haze but for the most part looks like I installed some new OEM Head Lamps :D. Just like genroni said.

Just my two cents. Let me know how things turn out.

Can't beat that feeling... after finishing those headlamps. Wet-sanding scared me pretty much, but after a lot of polishing (machine) everything turned out alright. I'm actually doing it to other cars in my house, just need the machine for polishing since my first one died.

I used PlastiX on an older vehicle that we used to have and it worked wonders. I strongly recommend PlastiX, great product.

Yeah, PlastiX is a great product for polishing. I used it after the sanding session and it restored the headlight completely.

What's a good brand of aluminum wheel polish would you guys recommend for this restoration? After applying the wheel polish should I then use Meguiar's PlastX and then use the Turtle Wax Liquid Ice?

Try PlastiX first.
If your headlights are too foggy, use 1000 grid sandpaper,
and go to 2000 grid if you want.
After PlastiX again with your hand or use a orbital machine to polish them with PlastiX.

I have this product for 6 months and love it, I restored 3 cars with it. I removed the all foggy yellow from an old "geo metro", it was shinny again..I was amaze. This week-end I will do a 2000 hyundai accent from a girl friend who need it.
