Camry / Solara exhuast pipe routing

Ok, we all love our cars and we think they look cool. Alright, disclaimer over.

Does anyone else dislike the way you can see the exhuast pipe hanging down very low, because of the way Toyota routed it on Camrys and Solaras? From the back, when I look at it from more than 10 yards away, I always notice it. I notice it on other Camrys and Solaras too, and have looked and I see that it is just the way it is routed.

Does anyone know why it is routed that way, and has anyone ever done anything about it? If so, what?

(I am surprised there are not more complaints about this, and also surprised people dont end up with holes in that pipe from hitting something. I have not hit anything with it, but as low as it is, I am surprised).

i remember asking a question similar to this before and didn't get a clear answer i think
if i remember correctly everyone said its just like that and its fine, no problems haha
theres some kind of bumper there that keeps it from getting hit, and pushes it up?

I believe Brian (Phreak) explained that it hangs low because it's a safety precaution. So that when there's a rear impact, the piping goes down, rather than up into the cabin.

When i went to get my custom cat back, i told them i wanted it tucked all the way up and straight. The guy told me not to for exactly that reason, but i still tucked it up a little bit so it wont be as hang so low when i get my ride lowered.

i dont think ull hit it even if u are lowered
ever since ive been lowered ive never hit anything with it....
but my front "fangs" are getting hurt bad T_T

it hangs but then compared to those that goes over the rear axle, our exhaust has better flow.

Less bends= less restriction= better flow= better performance.
