Stock Wheel Size and Weight

Postby gnegroni » Sat Mar 29, 2008 4:55 pm

Hi everybody!

I was trying to look for information on the Solara stock wheel size AND WEIGHT, but nothing yet! In the near future, I would like to exchange my 16" for at least 17" probably 18" to fit bigger brakes probably! However, I'm also looking into getting light wheels that could hold up a few road bumps without getting bent or broken.

Any info on the stock 16" and 17" size and weight? I'm not sure, but I think the 16" are 16"x6.5".

How about wheel recommendations for no-so-perfect roads, without being too fat?

The 16" (at least on the 2007) is a 16 x 6.5. I believe it is a 50mm offset.

Correct me if I am wrong...

Read all the post, but am not clear on the offset. If you have rubbing issues with outside fender, you would need to reduce positive offset? If with rubbing issues with inner fender and/or strut, you would need to increase positive offset in wheel preference? What is the importance of offset?

PXL's weblink shows our car will only accomodate 34-43 offset:
http://www.bigwheels.net/index.php?location=wheels&view_mode=&size_wheel=18&finish_wheel=Silver&brand_wheel=BBS&sort_wheel=popular

Maybe my assumptions are completely wrong, because this page has an example that only accepts 40 offset:
http://www.bigwheels.net/index.php?location=wheels&action=view_model&model=Superturismo%20GT&bold_id=79697

higher the offset will be (positive) more the wheel will be towards inside of the car...lower and it will go towards outside.
