For others with '04-'05 Solara's with the 3MZ-FE 5 speed auto trans Nebula is probably referring to TSB C006-05. It's a reflash that (copying from the TSB)
These improvements include:
Reduced downshift lag when accelerating at speeds from 10 to 20 mph
Less gear hunting when driving on/off accelerator pedal at 20 to 30 mph
Improved response rate during heavy accelerating from a stop.

It does 'not' (unfortunately) improve shift response when in manual (sport) mode.

Cheers

So what exactly would I go tell the dealer when I go take my car in for this? im 46K and have the platinum warranty for this car. Or would it be better to do this by TSB?

You know, i took my car in (04) to get this done last summer and i swear it didn't really feel like there was a change. While the reciept says they did it, i'm not sure they did (didn't cost me anything but my time). Is there a way to check if the update was applied without sending my car in for service?

The firmware verision is stored in the ECU. Unless you have the proper hookup, you'll need another Toyota to check.

Back when it came out, there were several that needed it done a couple times for it to take. Probably folks not following instructions. A few had to replace the ECU altogether.

If I remember right, this one only fixes the issue of people driving for extended periods in 3rd gear without upshifting to 4th. I don't want to do that as it will automatically upshift for me when I'm canyon carving! :x

Thanks for clarifying what that TSB is for, otherwise I would've felt like an idiot asking for my '06 be fixed. What is the actual TSB Title for this lag issue?
