Hi Guys/Gals,

Hope you can answer a few newbie questions (seems like this is the best solara resource out there).

I have one really nagging issue and some small questions, would really appreciate it if you can help me out with the first item, much thanks!

* Is the security system hyper sensitive? The car came with an after market starter and the alarm goes off all the time. Not sure if it's the security system or the car itself. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated on this one!

Not so important stuff:
* Can a newer maps DVD be purchased? Would one from a different model (like a Camry or Highlander) work as well? Could not find a definitive answer, so not sure if there is such an option.

* Also, the JBL NAV that is included, is it possible to add an iPod or Aux input in, and what is the best consensus product out there. Is there a Toyota authorised product that can be purchased?

* Why is the tire pressure light on all the time? I checked the pressure in all four tires and it seems perfect. The dealership got it to go away by re-programming the trip 'puter, but I"m not sure what's going on.

One last thing, anyone have a link to a downloadable .PDF of the 2004 model? I see that the 2006 is hosted here but I'm unable to find a 2004 one.

Many thanks in advance!

RE: nav CD. You can get an updated version from Toyota, or try to find a copy on ebay. Never know if a copy will work, but they are cheaper. Someone here was selling them, but decided not to. The Toyota ones are several hundred dollars.

Do a quick search here for aux. You will find a lot of threads with people's reviews of certain units, they are out there.

The tire pressure monitoring system should be OK after filling tires w/air and resetting (the button is down by the trunk release)

That's all I know :-)

Duke,

I can't help with your nav map question but will try to tackle the others.

Your audio unit 'might' have the same auxiliary audio port that the standard JBL units have on the rear. if so you can purchase a module that allows you to plug in your mp3 or other portable player. You'll find details here: http://www.gadgetjq.com/solara/sound.htm (click on the radio, second item)

The factory alarm system doesn't have a motion sensor so if your horn is sounding via vibration it's probably your aftermarket alarm. If there's no aftermarket alarm then you might have a really sensitive switch in a door, trunk or hood.

Your air pressure warning light needs to be reset properly. Start by making sure your tires have the proper pressure all around (sticker on the drivers door sill). Turn on the ignition and hold down the reset button for several seconds (it's just above your trunk release) until the warning light blinks several times.

The 2006 owners manual is the same as the '04 manual. You can download the .pdf here: http://www.gadgetjq.com/solara/maintenance.htm

Cheers
