Got the code P0420, any help?

Ok everyone, I got the CEL light last night on my way to look at some wheels (picking up tonight if the guy can find his wheel lock key! 
) and I was driving on the freeway. I was going 75 with everyone else and I was on cruise control when my CEL light just came on randomly 3/4 the way there. I got the code checked today and it's P0420 - engine misfire or bad cat reading. Since I have upgraded headers and a mechanical O2 sim mod, I figured it was the sim reading (hopefully!). I'm going to reset my battery in a few minutes and see if the light comes back on.
Any help/tips on what the code means exactly would be great! The guy at Autozone said worst case scenerio is that I get a new cat
