Is This A Good Idea?

Is This A Good Idea?

Okay, here's my plan. I want to wait until the '08 model Solara comes out because I expect it to have a new body in hopes that i can then purchase an '04 at a much reduced price(right now they're 12k-16k).

So my question to you guys are the following...

Is the '08 going to be 3rd generation?
and How much lower do you expect the '04s to dip if the '08 is 3rd gen?
or Should i cut all the crap and just get one now?

The reason i want the '04 is just because i can fix it up to look like an '07 8)
I'm tryn'a fool the ladies...

'08 will be the last model year. Since they went to a Gen 2.5 in '07, I doubt you'll see much change in '08.

Keep the '04 lookin' like an '04 and just give it a few mods - the ladies will be fine with that. ;)

Thanks for the replies and the welcome :)

Well, since you mentioned that we're in the .5 gen(which i didn't take into consideration) I'll probably just look into getting the auto sometime before summer. There's no point in waiting, because like you said, the body won't change much.

lol. and i agree. the girls will still love the '04. My plan wasn't to do anything too extreme. Just put on some HIDs and swap out the tail lights. My friend was telling me to put the '07 rims, but I rather go the custom route. Overall, I would like to keep it as stock-looking as possible.

I'm getting ahead of myself though, lol. I need the car first...

You could just buy an 07 and swap out the rear bumper

All the stuff you mentioned in on the 07, but the bumper is a little odd...unless you like it, then you don't have to swap LOL

Just the fact that you have a Solara already impresses the ladies; I have a near-stock Gen1 and I still get compliments on it, especially when it is nicely washed and gleamin' like there ain't no tomorrow. Therefore, no need to fool the ladies into anything (while "fooling" them just makes you seem dishonest and therefore making you a prick in their eyes anyway), especially if the differences are almost subtle.

Welcome to SG! :bday:

As for the '04, I say get it. Mine's an 06 but they're the same. All the chikas at school love ogling at my car as I drive by, which means they're definately fine with it.

There is only one downside to owning a Solara if you're in school: giving friends rides everywhere! I hate having to drive my friends everywhere for the following reasons:
1. I have the nicest car
2. I have the newest car
3. I take care of my car (other friends haven't changed oil for 10k+ miles (BAD!!))
4. Only 3 guys in one of my groups has cars
5. One "friend" is actually a cling-on (DON'T EVER GET ONE talk about little brother or something!:(:(:()

Anyways, to sum all the ranting up, just get a Solara. No matter what year it is, you'll love it! Stay active and enjoy the forums as well, you'll learn a ton!
