What's that noise

What's that noise

Postby cgs0409 » Tue Jan 23, 2007 5:09 pm

Okay guys I have one for you. My '04 has about 83K miles on it. On the way home today I hear a ding ding noise...sounded like the ding ding you hear on an airplane telling you to buckle your seatbelt. Now it did this twice...several miles down the road...and not again. I checked my display and no indicator lights were on. I just changed my oil and reset the maintenance indicator a week ago. I was riding alone at the time. I checked the manual and saw nothing that fit what I heard. I also did a search on the forum and came up with no hits. Anyone out there have any idea what this could be? Thanks in advance...

i dont think "ding ding" is good enough, where did it come from? did you hit any bumps? you have to be more descriptive for us to try to help you out.

If it were a JDM vehicle, I'd say you were setting off the "SPEED" warning... that would kick in at around 120-140....... kilometers per hour, that is... indicating you were driving "too fast". Seriously, that's what they do in Japan... it's SUPER annoying. (I'm not sure if they still do it... used to be the case years ago, anyway...)

I have an '04.... and I'm trying to figure this one out... hmmmmm....

Any more info? :-?

Seatbelt? Something heavy in the passenger seat?

Let me see if I can be more clearer. I was not speeding...running about 70 -75 mph...passenger seat was empty...and I didn't hit any bumps. The ding ding sounded like it came from the center of the dash. The radio was on but turned down low...the ding ding was quite a bit louder. Hope that helps some...thanks guys.

That's the lower-center-console MICROWAVE signifying that your "Hot Pocket" is ready to eat! 8)

my ipod makes that sound once in a while. My car doesn't unless the keys are set from off to ignition.

I was driving the other night and decided to put a cd in, but then got distracted by driving, imagine that  all of a sudden, I hear this ding..ding coming from my stereo because it was hungry, I'm assuming, since I didn't feed it the requisite plastic disc.

My car has made a "dinging" beeping noise once before. It was while I was driving in sport shift and I tried downshifting into 1st while going 30 mph. I got carried away driving and wasn't paying attention to what gear I was in. I'm sure that doesn't help you much, but I thought I'd share.
