I have a 2006 SLe and have tried every program method for the 2006 and cannot get any to work I think all the diferent methods on the net are for older models , does anyone know for sure the method to add an extra key for the 2006 I have the new key I bought from Toyota and had it cut but need to add it as extra, if you can help I'd appreciate it , I did add some (2) extra remotes but cqan't program key thanks much, Happy New Year,,,snowman

Assume it's the same as with a 2005 SLE, which I have. Starting in 2004, SLE keys must be programmed thru the onboard computer. You will need a real Toyota transponder key, which you appear to have. Either take it back to the dealership, or to a locksmith that has a computer interface. I added keys to mine thru a locksmith. He needed an original key (not valet) and hooked up a handheld computer device to a connection under the dash. I think I paid $90 for two keys and two programmings. The dealership wanted $40 per key and $85 per key to program.

EDIT: Nevermind, readin through your post a little closer (I must be dumb for missing it) revealed that you want it for the KEY, not the REMOTE. Lol, sorry about that!

This says it to program the remotes , I need to program the Key to the security system there is a way it can be done with a sequence withpout the dealer and their expensive machine
