Considering buying 04 V6 SE Sport

Postby ke_alaula » Fri Nov 17, 2006 11:02 pm

Hi!

I came across this site through reading reviews on the 04 Solara. I am going to a local dealership to check out a 2004 Solara V6 SE Sport tomorrow... I have read a couple of not-so-positive reviews about acceleration being slow and some other little issues. I am a little nervouse, but confused, as toyota quality is usually quite great and they usually build smooth and responsive V6/automatics?

Any comments would be great...

Mahalo (Thanks!)

I used to have an 04 V6 SE Sport and I loved it. I had the transmission TSB flash done and I installed an Injen intake and TRD exhaust. I didin't have any acceleration issues.

Give it some love and a few parts and you will be VERY happy.

Hey thanks for the quick response... What happens if I can't put in any parts right away? It doesn't have any issues, yet, right? The car looked awesome in and out... but gotta drive it tomorrow and see.

It's the frost white... and has one area where a scatch was covered. Any idea how much paint costs to replace it? (I would like it to be EXACT color match if I decide to purchase it)

Thanks again!

If the scratch is not too deep (if you can't feel the scratch) then try to remove it with scratch removing solutions.

You haven't paid for the car yet right? the dealer can fix the body damage for you for free. But address that issue before you pay or you might get screwed.

I have no mods to my car and it acclerates perfectly fine. I did have the ECU flashed with the shift/lag TSB,but I feel it is not even necesarry. If anything, it shifted smoother before the TSB and there is no real change in performance that I noticed over the long run.

Mine is a 2005 SE Sport V6 and though it's not a sports car, it's a sweet cruiser!

When negotiating a price for the car, tell them you want that scratch fixed! My strategy would be to first negotiate the price you want on the car, then tell them to fix the scratch too (after you have settled on a price).

.... and I was thinking of adding that into whatever deal I conjure up tomorrow. Thanks!

Its between solara and XRS corolla... with 6 speed and less miles, but then... not the same FEEL I am sure.

more words after a test drive tomorrow!

Thanks again for all the feedback!
