2007 Solara Headlight Indicator lamp

Just wondering, On 2007 SLE Vert Does the headlight indicator lamp on the instrument panel illuminate when headlights are on,or is it to indicate a problem with the system such as a blown light.
Thanks as always

You're not talking about the blue High Beam indicator light, right? I don't think my '06 coupe has a dash light for normal headlight function (or misfunction). Nothing mentioned in the owners' manual either.

What does the instrument pannel lamp look like? If I recall right, on the Camrys there's a small yellow/green "sun" symbol to indicate normal DRL/automatic headlight operation. Perhaps they added something like this for the '07 Solaras?

Not the high beam indicator, more like the green sunburst. kind of annoying to have it on all the time with the headlights.

Thanks for your reply

Since the new Solaras have a constantly-illuminated dashboard instead of it turning on with your headlights/parking lights, most car companies add the indicator to let you know that it's on so you're not driving around in the dark all the time, but incidentally there's a large amount of people who don't know what it means so it's perfectly understandable.

At least Solaras have an automatic headlight function; the new Accords do not and it is so common for them to drive with the DRLs only on at night that it's sickening. Also, the gauges of the new Solara are a bluish/green, so it blends in better with the indicator... Try driving the 2006 Accord (white), newer Celica (orange) or Audi (red).

If you're talking a green sunburst symbol, it means that your headlights are on. Like someone else said before, its there because the new gauges that they used in the 07 Solara light up whenever the car is turned on, so that green light is a simple way to let you know that your headlights are on. My 03 Celica had the same light as does the 07 rental Pontiac Vibe that I'm driving right now.

Isn't that for th DRL? Doesn't it turn off one the actual head lamps turn on after dark? I'll have to look at mine (2006) and see if I have the same. All my other cars had it just to show you the DRL were on. Never really noticed if it was on this car.

The 07 Solara, the Celica, the Vibe and the Matrix, just to name a few all have the green light bulb burst symbol- it means that your HEADLIGHTS are ON. It does not illuminate during the day when the DRL's are on, just when the headlights are on.

Some GM cars use the green "headlight" indicator on the dash (Sunfire, Cavalier, Aveo, etc...) to show the the DRL's are on, but thats an entirely different thing.
