Finally Had A Close Look At The 07 Convertible

I know this maybe old news, since the 07's have been out for awhile. Oddly, my local dealer did not have any 07 Solara's till this week. I'm going to make some observations that many of you mostly likely know, but for those who don't, the information maybe of interest. There were comments written a few months ago about how, when it rained, the water would pour into the drivers seat when the door was opened on the convertible. That has been addressed, or at least attempted to be addressed, with the 07. There is a rubber lip sewn into the edge of the roof above the doors. The odd thing is that the cloth material that is part of the lip, is black regardless of the roof color. In other words, there is a small black strip of cloth that runs down the edge of the roof from windsheld header to back side window. On Navi equppied cars, there is now a four disc CD player instead of the old one disc player. I was not able to see the antenna for the XM radio. It does not seem to be mounted on the left edge of the truck lid as before. The tiny fog light lens appear to be glass. I was expecting plastic. For models equipped with the HID option, the dash control takes the place of the alarm warning on the 06. While I knew the gauges have changed, I was surprise to see that they appear to light up like the Acura TL's on start. The gauges are very dark, so I'm assuming that fact since it was Sunday and I was just peering through the windows. The steering wheel appears to the be same, but the mounted controls are very different. They have a chrome like appearence and different graphics. The graphic on the nav system are also slightly larger. Much as be already written regarding the tail lights and head lights, grille, and interior "wood", so there are no need to rehash those items. Having an 06, in general I prefer it to the 07, but that's just me. I do like the bluetooth for the phone on nav cars, as well as the four disc player on the 07's. The HID lights are a plus too, beyond that, I'm very happy with my 06.
