TSB test

Postby ehshehsh » Sat Feb 11, 2006 12:03 am

Hi all,

I want to do transmission lag and pull to left TSB. But I do not know how I exactly find those symtoms.

For the pull to the left, I kind feel vehicle wants to go left.. but I do not know what exact situation can cause this since I have to show dealer.. Anyone know?

Also, about the lag, I read almost every post about lag, but doesn't get what the lag is.. Is it just shift seconds later when you full accel around 10 to 20 miles? Or is there any test that I can confirm?

Thank you

The pull left is just that. Tell them it pulls left and they will install the revised camber kit and realign the vehicle. The TSB for the lag is what you describe. The lag is caused by the throttle stepper motor PID's not being optimized. When the car is moving at ~20mph and push the gas, nothing happens for ~2 seconds. The ECM looks at several items like TPS, current gear, IAT and so forth to determine at what rate to open the throttle blade. The dealer will reflash the ECM will the modified program from Toyota and will resolve the issue. This will take 1.5-2 hours to reflash. I have had both of these item performed and issues no longer exist.

If you own an '06 Solara V6, then forget about getting any help form Toyota just yet. Getting the flash done is a waste of time, since apparently it's already programmed into the '06 ECM - BUT... they've added enough other emissions timing crap to muck it up and create more problems that they'll still have to address it again once there's been enough complaints about it.
