tC Supercharger on sale now?

tC Supercharger on sale now?

Postby sgunitkc » Thu Oct 27, 2005 10:00 am

I just recently saw on the TRD USA website that the tC supercharger is on sale. Would this fit on our solaras?

From website:

tC SUPERCHARGER ON SALE NOW!

Toyota Racing Development (TRD) and Scion announced today that a TRD supercharger for the Scion tC sports coupe will be available through dealerships beginning today. The TRD supercharger will help the stock tC's 160-horsepower engine put out up to 200 horsepower and increase maximum torque up to 13 percent. This all-new TRD supercharger is compatible with both 2005 and 2006 model year Scion tC sports coupes with manual transmissions. This centrifugal supercharger, which produces seven pounds of boost, was chosen for its compact configuration, ease of installation on the tC and smooth power delivery characteristics. The supercharger, when installed by an authorized Scion or Toyota dealer, falls under the same powertrain warranty of five years or 60,000 miles, or the balance of the new car warranty, whichever is greater. When not installed by a dealer, the supercharger is covered by a 12-month, 12,000-mile parts-only warranty. The manufacturer's suggested retail price of the TRD supercharger is $3,200, not including installation.

Why wouldnt you have just paid the extra 3k when you bought the car and gotten 2 more cylinders and 225hp?

Only benefit I could see would be the possibility of better mileage with a I4 S/C vs a V6. But realistically, anyone with the I4 got it because it's what they wanted to spend at the time. Then they joined SolaraGuy and wished they had the V6.

LOL. I also agree. I sometimes wish I had a 6-cylinder, but I didn't get it becuase I like manual trans and Toyota decided to not make a manual trans 6 cylinder.

I agree too guys, the reason why I am not buying the V6 is because of the tranny...

Agree with MikeATL, where does it say that my decision had anything to do with lack of money?
The plus for the four cylinder was the increase in gas mileage, since I drive so damn much, and it comes in a manual trans.
I could afford to get the V6 convertible, but I hate convertibles and the V6 is only in auto, why would I waste my money on something I don't really like?
