Lumpy Convertible Top

Lumpy Convertible Top

Postby captain morgan » Thu Sep 29, 2005 7:17 am

I have a 2005 SE Convertible that is 5 months old. My top is starting to get lumps caused by the batting bunching up under the front to back straps that run close to the side windows on each side. Has anyone one else seen this problem on their tops? I would hate for the dealer to start messing with the top, but this should not be happening on a 30K car!!!!

Take it to a good upholstery shop that specializes in convertible tops and have them take a look and diagnose the problem. Then take it to your dealer service manager to discuss the problem and options. I had some problems with my top and convinced them that I wanted MY shop to fix it at Toyota's cost, and it went quite well.

^^^^ What he said. The dealer is going to send the car to a specialized shop anyway, so you're better off finding a trustworthy shop from the beginning.

It's kind of hard to imagine what the top looks like. Can you post a pic ?
