2005 gen2 are different?

Found this info at Toyota's Website:

3.3-liter DOHC
24-valve VVT-i V6
225 hp @ 5600 rpm
240 lb.-ft. @ 3600 rpm

I thought I remember seeing the rpm was lower for max-hp ... and high rpm for max-torque. I remember seeing this info 6 months ago. Or am I wrong? They also dropped the V6 SLE down to $23600 for 2005? That was like $25900 6 months ago. Am I wrong on that too?

If the torque is more important in 0-60 times than horsepower, is it better to shift at 3600rpm when using the tiptronic instead of higher? I've been shifting closer to 5000 rpm. Wondering if anyone did any time comparisons on shifting at higher or lower rpm's.

The $23600 is for the I4 SLE. The V6 SLE starts at $26600. If you look under the Price tab, it lists all trims individually.

My understanding is that the answer is NO, you should not shift at 3600rpm. The torque curve is probably at 90% and higher between a certain range (for example 3000rpm to 5500rpm), and while it is in our case the maximum at 3600rpm, it's close to that maximum probably anywhere between 3000rpm and 5500rpm (or redline). The downside of shifting at 3600rpm is that once you shift, your RPMs drop to around 2000rpm where you have very little usable torgue. However, if you shift at 5000-5500rpm, it will drop smack at the max of the torque at 3600rpm, right at the peak of the torque curve.

I realize this is not a particularly good explanation, so here's a link that I found on the net. I hope it helps:

You know, I'm sure you're right. The website pretty much proves that you are. But with the tiptronic, I really don't think it makes that much of a difference. After all, it is an auto when it really comes down to it. Plus, my acceleration is a lot better when i shift into second around 3600, or a little lower. The shift is smoother and I feel more torque in 2nd. I'm not trying to say you're wrong or anything. I'm just putting my 2 cents in. I have no facts to back me up...I drive by feeling.

physically there's no way you can accelerate faster shifting at 3600 than at 5000
