Problems with loose driver side backrest

Postby toyotaguy » Thu Sep 30, 2004 12:19 pm

I have a 2004 Camry Solara and was wondering if anyone else is having problems with the front drivers seat backrest or passenger side backrest. It's seems to me that when ever I drive and stop, the backrest has some give to it and it's starting to become really annoying.I was told by toyota that this was because of the side airbags but I'm starting to think it's a designer defect.

I have somewhat of a same problem. When I'm driving on the freeway, the passenger seat rattles a lot. I have driven many different cars and it seems that solara's only have this issue. I'm thinking it something to do with the seats design maybe.

No give or rattling from either seat in my car. I'd complain till your service dept fixes it.

I don't really have this problem (knock on wood). But my 2000 Camry did and still does. Well, it wasn't quite a rattle...more of a squeak, with the give though. Everytime I'd turn or get in my car, it would squeak. I went to my Toyota Dealer and got them to replace the seat and the seat track, but two months later, I had the same problem. Now, im not saying it'll start again or anything. This is a completely different car. But in case it does, I recommend going to another Toyota Dealership to get it checked out because the same dealership will not replace it more than once. Damn Florida Lemon Law! So, four years later, I'm still squeaking. It's not under warranty anymore so I can't go to another dealership and have them look at it without them charging me. That's just my two cents. Hope it helps.

PS. Please don't call it a Camry Solara. I know that's what Toyota calls it, but other than the enginesand the chassis, the two cars are completely different and it really hurts me when people think it's a Camry.
