Windows not sealed properly

Windows not sealed properly

Postby Addie » Sat Sep 25, 2004 3:00 pm

I have a 2004 Solara and I am having problem with water getting into my car after I wash the car at the car wash. Is anyone experiencing this problem? I had it checked out at the dealership and they told me there is nothing they can do about it, since it's the design of the car and the design does not have the "lips" seal around the windows. Their suggestion is to hand wash my car or to take it to an automatic car wash with the water pressure being lower.
Any other suggestions from any of you? I am very bothered by this. Otherwise, I love my Solara. It drives great.

I'd go back to the dealer and have them put in writing that leaking windows are normal! That's a pot of crap! I would demand new rubber seals all around the windows. There is no excuse for that. The window is not sealing properly with the rubber seal. Replace the seal. It's that simple! Those guys are idiots. You shouldn't have to tip toe around your car and adapt to it because Toyota refuses to fix it. It's under warranty and this car isn't cheap, so demand this to be fixed. If not, go above their head or go to another local dealership.

I agree... get that from the dealer in writing.

I have owned 3 Solaras, one of them being an 04... the windows DO not leak and should not leak, regardless of the situation.

What model do you have? If it is a convertible you should not be running it through an automatic wash and there are also recommendations on how you use a hose during washing around the windows. This info is provided in the user's manaual.

i found water leaking problem for my window when i was my car too..
but i found out it's because i turn the water hose to strong and spread it directly to window. the water was strong enough to push the rubber inside and makes water leak into car.

the solution i found was turn the water hose down alittle bit, or rings it from high to low position when spreading near window.

hmmmmm...I have washed my car through high pressured car wash and hand-washed it many times with mild pressure water hose many times and have not found this to be a problem.

Arg, another worthless dealer. :x

The windows definitely should not leak. I can drench my windows with a strong stream of water and there is absolutely no leakage into the cabin.

I do agree that you should hand wash your car though.
Moved on to better things...
