While this is more than a month old, this Solara convertible reviewer is right on when it comes to color and Toyota's engines..

The absolute red is one of the sharpest use of red on the road today compared to manufacturer's use of red. Some of the subtle differences I think is that Toyota may be using a touch of cadmium red ( orange/yellowish red hue - example of this: http://www.mauigateway.com/~donjusko/oi ... dredlt.htm) where others look like they may mix in a slight bit of burnt sienna (red/brownish tint, slighly translucent) or a touch of burnt umber (stronger brownish in color) . which is used to tint their paint.

Bottomline Toyota's absolute red pops like a ferrarri red

Sorry for the details but I love the absolute red!

Just how accurate is the article's description of the rear view and backing up in the convertible?

Backing up

"When backing up, first pray, then move slowly and finally listen for the sound of horns honking and/or tires screeching. A back-up camera would be a vital option, although one is not offered at this time."

The rear deck is high as we all know. The challenge with the convertible is the extremely limited view out of the rear view mirror. To assist in overcoming this is to make sure your side view mirrors are adjusted properly along with in my case, being vertically challenged -5'6", leaning slightly forward when looking through the driver side mirror. This allows me to see the pavement in along with the rear of my vehicle and the front of the car behind me.

I think Absolutely Red is terrific. People tell me its very bright like a lipstick red, and its the perfect color for a car like this.

Nonetheless though I agree with the article about colors do make the car entirely look different, it sounded like the author dissed the Cosmic Blue Metallic. I still believe Toyota would best be served if they used Indigo Blue Ink instead.

"...underwhelming throttle response..."

Does he mean lack of power or the delay in downshifting?
Moved on to better things...

I think he must have meant a delay in power because this engine sure has power! If I want to ever downshift quickly, lately I just go to manual and it is quite a bit faster. It doesn't seem that the reviewer tried that from what he wrote.
