Condensation

Condensation

Postby Ikhandi » Wed Aug 25, 2004 6:31 pm

Just curious here. Anyone getting condensation in their front headlights? I took my car into the dealer because I am experiencing this now. It took two solid days for the condesation to dry out on its own. Dealer says that is normal on the 04's. This sounds like BS to me.

I haven't experienced this......and we've had a few monsoons lately. My car is not garaged so it sees all the rain.

I cannot believe condensation would be considered normal...over time it can cause problems.

My car has been parked outside since I got it last November (though soon about to change  ). I have not had any problems and condensation in any light is NOT normal.

Figures, another worthless dealer.

Thanks. Just needed some second opinions. Dealers say stupid stuff at times in hopes that you just may believe them. I ended up telling the rep I would be calling tommorow to speak with the service manager directly. I want my bulb replaced. I never had condensation on a ten year old toyota. No way am I settling for it on a five month old car.

I would ask them to replace the entire headlight.

Yep, the entire headlight needs replacing. Replacing just the bulb will do nothing to correct the problem, though I am sure the dealer would be glad to do it.

BTW, it is a fairly common problem for headlights/taillights. Not just in the auto industry but also in the marine industry

Condensation is not normal and is actually a hazard because the condensation can cause a short in the headlight. The headlight you have is not sealed completely. Demand a new one under warranty. That's just not acceptable.

Thanks everyone for your input. Dealer actually called me today and are ordering parts to replace both headlights. He apologized about the rep who told me this was a common problem on the 04's. He promised me it wasn't. Now I am satisfied.

these dealers are jackasses...i've only gone to one dealr thats been cool about ordering parts...maybe it was just that service rep..but every time i go in to get an oil change, they either try to sell me some sh1t...or if i have a complaint, they tell me they can't do anything for me...a buncha jackasses those service reps are...what ever happened to manufacturers warranty...if you didn't cause the problem by tampering w/ it...then they have to replace it no questions asked!!!

in this car, it is abnormal. however, some cars (i.e. celicas) do not have sealed lenses, they are meant to take on a small amount of condensation and it will dry within a day.

by any chance did you make an appointment for your complaints? that may be the problem. they need time to look at anything other than oil changes and if they have no idea you're coming, will not be able to fit you in ahead of people who do have appointments.
