Nav System -Startup Caution Message

Is there anyway to disable/bypass having the default caution message being displayed everytime you turn on the Nav system. I didn't see anything in the Nav Owner's manual. The message I am referring to is:

CAUTION!

Drive safely and obey traffic rules. Watching this screen while vehicle is in motion can lead to a serious accident.....................................

English Francais I Agree

Thanks in advance

i dont have a nav system but is that message there when the dvd is in or out or both? The reason i ask is im thinking if the message only appears when the dvd is on then that message would be inside the dvd inscription to deal withthat you would have to open the dvd on a computer and re write that part of the cd and then burn to a new dvd.

the problem with this theory is that the dvd could be double layered i dont know if its a 4 gig your ok if its more you will have to go buy 1 of those brand spankin new dvd burners that burn dual layered dvds.

Hey Shoe

I don't know if its pulled from the DVD. My guess is it is flashed on the boot prom. JBL/Toyota probably implemented this in order to fight any litigations that involve accidents. But judge they have to read and press the I Agree button before the nav system continues with normal operations.

The message is annoying and I've only had the car for 3 days! I can live with having to press a single button everytime I start up but it would be great to disable it.

Here's a thread from Siennaclub.org...

http://www.siennaclub.org/forum/index.p ... topic=4558

(They've installed the Solara Nav in their Sienna's)

There's someone there working on it...

Check out their forum while you're at it... gave me some good ideas... (well ONE good idea... installing a backup camera... plug and play with the Solara Navigation... just need to find the DANG camera to buy!)

They also found that you can add voice operation to the Solara Nav...

Short of rewriting the software, there is no way to disable this screen.

Knowing how lawsuit-happy some people are, I think the I Agree screen is a necessary evil.

I have a brand new OEM 2004 Solara Navigation unit ($1575) installed in my 2004 Sienna with 10 speaper JBL surround AMP.
I was just wondering if anyone who has 2004 Solara with NAV can verify the following for me since there are quite a few of us Sienna owners looking for a better solution besides mod/add-on we alreayd did like the voice command mic ($50 OEM toyota part) & plug&play back-up camera (Eclipse BEC103 $185 made by FujitsuTen who also makes Solara NAV unit) & playing DVD on NAV, & XM & looking for a way to integrate BlueTooth.

1. which version does 2004 & 2005 solara MAP dvd?
you can get this in Diag Mode. should say something like Denso 5640.... Map disc v 4.1.14
2. when it gives voice guidance to tell you to make a turn, does it MUTE the whole system or just the left front speaker?
3. In diag. mode, there are 2 options greyed out on mine.
BT voice & Back guide monitor- can someone verify what back guide montior is and if it's enabled if so, what it does?

Thanx much,
