Not having my new rag top yet I was wondering how the alarm that comes with the car functions. Motion? Access attempt? etc. Also does it use the car horn or does it have a seperate siren.

Thanks in advance!

The car alarm works several different ways: Glass shatter; if someone attempts to use a key that's not yours it goes off; it has an immobilizer meaning if the alarm goes off then they can't start the car; door opening w/o key... generally access attempt.

The alarm uses the car's unusually high pitched horn. lol...

The glass shatter sensor is an extra cost (I think $150) addition to the standard alarm.

The alarm will go off if one of these things happen:

-Hood is opened while alarm is armed
-Trunk or a door is opened while alarm is armed, and opened without using one of the programmed keys.
-Attempted hot wiring

One thing I like is the alarm will sound if someone tries to jimmy (is that the right word??) the door or breaks a window and then unlocks a door. It almost instantly relocks.

Also, the unlock buttons do not work inside the car once the alarm is armed.
Moved on to better things...
