I don't even pull my engine past 4k rpm after 3k miles. Too scared something bad happening. I change the oil + filter religiously at 3k miles. Don't want to take any chances. My oil changes are only $18-20 too. Much cheaper if you DIY. I have yet to not make a mess too!

i have seen various test results of synthetic being run in same engine for 10's of thousands of miles, with only regular filter changes and no engine damage.....

so changing synthetic at 5k seems pretty safe and is what i plan to do 8)

5-6K on a good synthetic is a good interval. I have checked mine at 6K and the oil was far for being bad in my TA. It still could have been used for 3k more miles. I still use 6K though.
