What would you change for the 2005 coupe?

It's tough to say what improvements should be made to the 05 Solara because price becomes an issue. One of hte main reasons I bought the Solara was because I was getting a Lexus for the price of a Solara. Now if I go adding this that and the other thing, I may put the price in the range of a Lexus.

But putting that aside, I would definitely like to see a uniform interior lighting sceme. It should be ALL blue or ALL green, not both. Also, make XM an option. Stop teasing us with this XM-ready crap, when we eventually find out it costs another $500.00 to get it to work! And since I'm speaking of XM...educate Toyota salespeople regarding what XM is, how it works, the price to get it in your Solara, and the cost of the service!

HID would be a nice option as would a 6-speed manual in the SLE.

New colors as someone suggested... pewter and yellow for exterior. Black for interior.

i'd definately agree with an ashtray compartment holder to hold change. since this one doesn't have compared to my previous car, i have resorted to using a film canister to hold some change kept in the top level driverside holding tray.

though seems like alot of people have gripes about the AC i haven't really noticed it being a problem. interior wise though i really like the interior of this car, it would be alot niced if it was all a uniform blue or green. its a nice contrast in a sense with the different colors but something uniform would make it look better. personally if they could get the electric blue that they have for the dash as the backlighting for the sound system that would be real nice.

hahaha as for the XM radio. i've never actually used it though several friends of mine love it so i can't speak from any personal experience. however, i tend to listen to cds so it would be nice to have the stereo mp3 compatable though its not a huge issue.. since i don't listen to the radio XM isn't all that important for me.. would be nice to have though from what i heard it includes.

also something to even out the back. i love my car and all but the rear is alittle bubbly

I have to agree about the blue & green interior lighting. I'd really like to see all blue - blue would look so cool with the radio & climate control. A coin holder would be nice.

I actually like the rear of the car...hopefully no one will flame me to bad!

Overall it is an awesome ride for the money.

Fix the ugly designed rear!!! Stay true to the original Solara look, and not make it look like a Tiburon!

I, too, like the design, front, side, AND REAR of the new Solara! Good point on the coin holder.

Yea, Toyota, this is some damn good advise. Next time, when you want to redesign a car, keep it as close looking as the car it is suppose to look different than. Smart! Real smart!

Solara1 gets his testicles all tied in a knot when some poor unsuspecting member relists a topic already discussed, doesn't use the "search" function properly, or misstates a term in a post, but he's the first to jump on the fix-the-butt-of-the-2004-Solara-because-it-is-ugly bandwagon.

This discussion, or should I say, argument, regarding the looks of the rear-end of the 2004 Solara is getting old and tedious.

personally, I never would have purchased a gen 1 solara mainly due to the looks. My father in law had one and it was very nice but not very good looking in my opinion.

I love the gen 2 look and wouldn't change a thing. I've had the car for about a month and get a compliment on its looks at least every other day.

me 3 on the body style - I love the look - although its a little hard to judge where the back of the car is, when in reverse/parallel parking, changing lanes, etc.

for the se sport i would like the middle console w/ the stereo/ac to be either black or carbon fiber...that silver look gets too damn dirty too quick...and the 2 color lighting irritates the hell out of me...i wanna change that ASAP...anybody know how?

Yeah fix the blue/green interior. That is the most ridiculous thing about the car. I hope whoever thought that looked good had their eyes checked.
