I thought it was the other way around? That the SE Sport has a softer ride than the SLE because of our sport-tuned suspension. My Sport is so comfortable, I doze off sometimes on the freeway.

Sport-tuned means harder suspension that you'll feel more on a rougher road than on a freeway. The SLE has a softer ride than the SE Sport but the suspension on the SLE feels sportier to me than the Gen1/1.5 stock suspension.

Yeah, my friend has an SLEV6 just like mine.

The stock setup is fairly luxurious in ride, but with the TRD springs, it is way too firm. I used to own an Acura CL Type S, which is much firmer than the SLEV6, and that car had a smooth ride compared to my friend's dropped SLEV6.

I'm not sure if the appearance and/or marginal handling benefit is great enough to overcome the poor ride quality. In fact, my friend is considering putting the stock springs back on.

Sure sounds like those springs are a big waste of money (not to mention the high cost also of putting them on). It's good some people are reporting this before too many others install them.

Yes I agree Glad to get the info before having it done . But I would still like to hear from someone who has done it on the sport model as I don't think the difference will be that major

I would venture to say a lot of Solara owners would not be too happy with the ride when dropped. One of the main reasons I got this car is for the relatively smooth, comfortable ride. After all, Toyota is known for their smooth riding cars.

Even the most sporty Solara (SE Sport) has a nicer ride than its competitors like the Accord and Sebring, as mentioned in the R&T comparo a couple months back.
