Top Speed?

Wow I feel brave or foolish take your pick, compared with everyone else here.

Freeway 172 Buddy's 1996 Porsche 993 Twin Turbo. Things move pretty fast let me tell you. Not for the faint of heart especially being a passenger.

backroad 85mph in my buddy's 2002 Audi A6 2.7Twin turbo

140 is the fastest I have personally driven anything. 1996 Camaro Z28 on the highway

Oh yeah 2001 NSX-t we had rented from internationalhorsepower.com
125 with the roof off VTEC on full tilt(7900Rpm) across the bridge to at 1am to Newport RI. I'll be telling my kids about that. Makes my neck hair stand up just thinking about it.

ffffft....(sticks out chest and thumps)........

I have ridin a zx-11 to an indicated 190+ and only looked down for 1/10 of a second after backing off ... it will never happen again.

I have eclipsed 140 mph at the track on a regualr basis and have even driven over 170 mph in my buddies 02' 996 twin... also have ridin in his 03' 360 modena over 170+...

I have ripped the solara up to 110 so far and it did feel solid but didnt want to push it due to traffic...

this past weekend I drove a 545 bmw past the 140 mark with one hand and a smoke... that car handels like a friggen dream for a boat

oh... used to take my 955 daytona past 150 every weekend on the way to lake geneva... now my duc struggles to pass 130... damn v twins. :drinking:

How come the ES330 top speed is 143mph (lexus.com) with the same engine & tranny?
Is the chip from ES compatible with Solara?

I believe the standard 16" ES330 tires come with higher speed rated rubber. I am wondering if you have the TRD rims with the Pilot Sports if you can have the limiter adjusted.

Where did you go to rent an NSX? How much does a day rental cost anyway? I would love to rent a Ferrari, but I would need an auto. :-?

I was out last weekend and decided to floor it from 80 to 125 mph. Very nice and smooth ride, luckily I had my 17s stock...I'd be straight TRIPPIN' to do that in DUBs...

Surprised the cutoff is higher than that. How smooth did it feel at that speed?

Hmmm, going at that speed, a quick glance could give you such an accurate number as 143???? I wouldn't want to be looking too long at instruments going that fast unless I was on a very long straightaway with hardly anyone around.

top speed

143 is a close estimate..the speedo was between 140 and 145...so im guessin 143. It was pretty smooth, considering the road I was on, and I have 18" wheels with 235/40/18 tires. And yes, it was a long straight with no one around.

Are you sure your speedo is correct with the 18" tires?

michaels_artic_frost wrote: trdpower04,

Your new wheels are running 235/40/18 tires, stock is wheels are running 215/55/17. The diameter for the new wheels is 25.4 inches and your stock is 26.3 inches. That's .9 inch of a difference. Therefore your speedometer reading with non-stock tire is 3.5% too fast. When your speedometer reads 60 mph, you are acutally traveling 57.9 mph.

Use this as a guide.

His speedometer is off. Check this otha thread that I wrote. Plus the faster you go, the bigger the difference in the actual speed that you're traveling and the speed that your speedometer is displaying. Sorry to burst your bubbles...haha 143mph...right.... :D If I had to guess, I'd say the fast your car was actually doing was 135-138mph. :)
