Gen 2 pricing

Postby jimkjr » Thu Feb 26, 2004 11:38 am

Just picked up my V-6 SLE with every option but the Navigation system that stickered for $27988 for $24697 out the door. Great sales experience too. Did my due diligence with Edmunds and Consumer Reports and I'm comfortable that I got a great deal. Love the car too!!!

$24000 out the door is not bad. My 04 Solara Sport V6 SE plus extended warranty (which was 1000, but I talked them down to 700) to 75000 miles out the door was $23500.

There is my gripe with the SE Sport, is the $900 moonroof option. It seemed like the SLE made more sense.

I was trying to do that, buy a V6 w/o any options but every dealership I went to had options on the car and I didn't want to wait and have them order it.

Good luck finding dealers that have an SE V6 with no additional options. The spoiler will most likely be included. But base models isn't so common nowadays, because the options like the moonroof for the SE/SE Sport cost you a lot more then what they really cost. But it seems like a better deal if you have the moonroof in mind, that the SLE makes the most sense because for say the SLE V6 price you get that, leather, JBL stereo, climate control, and such.

But Toyota's way is having a "base" version (Solara SE, Corolla CE) "sport" version (SE Sport, Corolla S) and a "luxury" (SLE, Corolla LE) .

They know you'll be more tempted to buy the SE Sport if they include the moonroof or a JBL stereo because appealing options like those make the car look and feel more valuable to you instead of a base configuration. Shoot even the SLEs aren't even base, since most of the time they have the spoiler included (makes sense, and should be stock but isn't) and if you live in the southeast, Toyoguard will usually be slapped on as an option since all the cars here come from SE Toyota Distributors LLC.
